Origin

I got this device back in 2021. What occasion? Honestly, I forgot.

It was an upgrade from an i7 3770 + rtx 2060 setup. Yep, THAT cursed. Well, after I sold its graphics card, it became my server but I'm getting ahead of myself here.

Usage

Okay, back to the actual doromi tul 1, it served me well until 2025.

It has seen windows 10, 11, sapphireos, like 10 linux distros if not more in its lifetime.

I even virtualized everything (proxmox → cachyos setup) & streamed everything to my other devices (mainly my macbook pro & quest 3) on it at one point!

But well, the reality of this setup quickly caught up to me, the input lag was unbearable & the fact that if something goes wrong i still need to plug in a monitor was really annoying.

Point still stands: it was a really good computer for what I was using it for most of the time... Until

Until I gained an interest in VR. And AI.

Those two use cases absolutely brought it to its knees, especially AI & vrchat since those are extremely VRAM-bound, which, the GPU I had installed at the time had only 12 gigabytes of.

The end of doromi tul 1

So its time came in 2025, around my birthday, when I decided to upgrade (hey, it aligned with my birthday).

Of course, the GPU was the first one to go. Still easily the highest value component, it can do gaming, graphics design & AI (well this one isnt great at it but paired with something else it does get pretty good okay).

I slowly sold all components off one-by-one trying to get enough money for its successor. Annoyingly enough, I sold the RAM JUST BEFORE the AI-driven great price spike started so that was like a few thou in PLN lost, I guess...

At the end, only the case & hard drives were left from this computer. I used the case for the server & the hard drives for doromi tul 2.
